Viewing Tips for Tonight’s Wolf Moon 2010

Tonight, January 29, 2010, is what the experts call a wolf moon or for us common folks, the biggest full moon of the year. If you have clear skys and want to truly appreciate the wolf moon, I suggest you get outside of the city lights so you can really see just how enormous and bright it will look. It’s pretty incredible.

So why is it called a wolf moon? It’s actually one of the Native American names given to different moons. I, of course, being the Twilight fan that I embarrassingly am, assumed it was in reference to warewolves. Shame on me.

In case you think tonight’s wolf moon is no big deal, let me share a few stats. It’s apparently 14% wider AND 30% brighter than a full moon you would view in August. That’s a pretty significant difference.
