Marcus Lattimore Announcement

t is battles like the recruitment of Marcus Lattimore that make signing day the event that it has become. Steve Spurrier is pulling out all the stops to keep the talented running back from leaving the state of South Carolina to head to Auburn. Gene Chizik has seen unprecedented success during his first full year with the Tigers. Even without Lattimore, Auburn has one of the top 5 recruiting classes in the country but that doesn’t mean Auburn fans want the nation’s No. 1 running back any less than the Gamecocks.
South Carolina fans have obsessed over Lattimore to fix their running game, which just hasn’t been SEC caliber. It is near impossible to compete in the Nation’s toughest conference with the 91st ranked rushing offense. Imagine the excitement of the fan base when a talent like Lattimore springs up in their backyard. If only it were as simple as him falling in their lap.
Lattimore will announce his decision of where to sign this evening at 6 pm at Silver Hill Memorial United Methodist Church in Spartanburg, SC. The church holds 600 but is expected to be standing room only tonight. No doubt more than a few Gamecocks will arrive early to do a little praying.
