Daddy, Cesar Millan’s famous pit bull sidekick, has passed away at the ripe old age of 16. Daddy, a cancer survivor, was considered the leader of Millan’s pack and a clear sentimental favorite for Millan himself. He was considered the consummate ambassador for his breed.
According to Millan, Cesar died yesterday, Friday, February 10, 2010, “peacefully, surrounded by friends and family”. The cause of death has not been disclosed, but Daddy was long-lived for a dog of his size.
Daddy had once belonged to rapper Redman, but finding he didn’t have the time to give the dog the attention he needed, Redman gave the dog to Millan when it was discovered Daddy had cancer at the age of ten.
I’m not a big fan of Millan’s (the few times I’ve watched his show, it always seems like he blamed the woman of the house for whatever problems the dog was having) but I’m sorry to hear that poor Daddy died. He was by all accounts a wonderful dog that showed pit bulls can make great pets if raised well. And even if Cesar Millan is a piece of work, I have a much beloved senior dog myself, and I can’t imagine anything much worse than the prospect of someday losing him.
